Build a Strong Core.
Prepare for PSLE Success.

"The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet." — Aristotle

As students enter upper primary, English becomes more demanding. Comprehension passages require deeper thinking, writing calls for greater precision, and students are expected to communicate their ideas with clarity and confidence. While the journey may be challenging, these are the years where strong foundations are built and lasting progress is made.

Our Primary 5-6 English Programme is designed to strengthen every core component of the English syllabus, laying a solid foundation for Primary 6 and the PSLE. Through structured lessons, purposeful practice, and personalised guidance, students develop mastery, close learning gaps, and gain the confidence to tackle increasingly complex questions.

Our English Programmes

We offer two programmes tailored to your child’s learning needs, whether they require focused composition writing support or comprehensive preparation across all four English examination papers.

1. Composition Writing Booster

Write with confidence, creativity and impact.

Our Composition Writing Booster draws on the systematic approach of the Summa Linguistic Formula™, exposing students to a wide repertoire of over 100 writing techniques to help them develop ideas and craft engaging compositions.

At The Summa Academy, students are encouraged to remember and internalise higher-order vocabulary, idioms, powerful phrases and show-not-tell techniques so they can apply these expressions naturally in their writing, especially during examinations. Occasional short quizzes reinforce learning and assess their understanding and retention.

Lessons also cover Situational Writing, equipping students with the skills to write effectively for different purposes, audiences and contexts.

2. Comprehensive English Programme
(Papers 1, 2, 3 & 4)

A holistic approach to English examination preparation.

This programme covers all four examination components:

  • Paper 1: Composition Writing and Situational Writing

  • Paper 2: Language Use & Comprehension

  • Paper 3: Listening Comprehension

  • Paper 4: Oral Communication

Lessons follow an alternating weekly cycle, with Paper 1 covered one week and Papers 2, 3 and 4 the following week.
